The Business Incubation Program is a 12-month opportunity focused on helping tech founders in Africa to succeed with their entrepreneurial ventures. Startups entering the program have a proof-of-concept prototype and a preliminary market assessment. The goal is for startups to leave the program with a revenue-generating product positioned to successfully compete for additional investment to scale. *Benefits ~$50,000 USD in seed funding from CMU-Africa ~12 months of targeted advisory support across product, growth, compliance, and investment ~$5,000 in AWS credits and $1,500 in Amazon technical support ~Introductions to angel investors, VC firms, and partners in Africa and Pittsburgh ~Connection to CMU-Africa's partner ecosystem across Africa ~Connection to global networks via CMU's Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship

Requirements

For the Business Incubation Program: We will not consider applications from startups with the following criteria: 1: Marketplaces ( E-commerce, middleman platforms) 2: Late stage startups which have raised significant capital and earn consistent revenue 3: Startups without potential to generate jobs 4: Non-tech enabled startups 5: Startups without functional prototypes 6: Startups that have been through more than 2 similar programs in the past 24 months Carnegie Mellon University Africa holds all of the information provided by applicants in the strictest confidence. The information will be used for the sole purpose of evaluating the applicant’s suitability for the Industry Innovation Lab programs.
